Important note: Affinity Designer and Photo do not neatly map onto Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
If you're an illustrator, you're going to want to get Designer as it covers both raster and vector illustration. Affinity Photo is just for photo retouching and manipulation.)
Affinity Publisher user here (using it to make magazines for a nonprofit), & I HIGHLY recommend the Affinity software suite. I promise you that you won't feel like you're "settling" for an alternative just because you can't pay for an Adobe subscription... Affinity Publisher is a powerful program that never comes off as intimidating. It's astonishingly easy/intuitive to use and runs great too. Do consider picking it up -- or just grab the whole suite -- while it's on sale, it's worth it
