My elementary school was demolished
And the only thing they left behind was a tree
That once was surrounded by the recess playground.
And now the tree
Is bigger than it used to be.
I think the tree is just like me.
There were other trees around her before. They grew with her and then they were taken away.
She resided in a circle of grass and dandelions in a neighborhood with a swing set, some slides, the monkey bars, the basketball court. They took her neighborhood away and left her stranded.
Now she's bigger. And sadder. She can't return to her friends and her home. And she never even moved- only grew.
