I keep trying every now and then to look into how to turn off Windows Updates forever (for obvious reasons), and whenever I search it, I get like twenty different answers that are either out of date, or for a different version, or wrong

And I ask friends and they give me twenty different answers that are either out of date, or for a different version, or wrong

So I get frustrated and shut down and go "I'll look at it later I guess", and then Windows installs spyware on my computer lol

And before someone says "uh, just switch to Linux", hush. That's not an option for me. I use too many programs in my daily life that don't work on Linux.

It seems like every time there's a viable workaround for something like this, Microsoft finds a way to reach into your computer and turn it off. I presume that's why there are so many different answers for the question: It's whack-a-mole.

It also sucks! A lot!!

I hope there's an answer you can find that works smoothly and painlessly.

I strongly recommend not turning off updates for security reasons and rather removing/disabling the new "features", if you're on Pro you can use group policies since domain admins have to be able to turn spyware off for compliance reasons
