They also chsnged the font for italic text, its a slightly rounder font with added decoration to some letters like f, which now has a lil tail that curves back and goes under the previous letter

mmm yes very good design to force your mobile users to stretch their palms all the way to the top left corner of their phone.
I genuinely liked having the DMs be on the bottom shelf for ergonomic reasons and because it separated the notification badges so I don't have to scroll around in my servers list to figure out where the ping came from if it was just a DM because the icon would just tell me that it was a DM, and now the shelf exists for basically no reason
