I made 5 bucks. 😐

Well, I sold 3 books for $5 USD each. So the first two sales covered the artist alley listing. The third one was profit. So at least it wasn’t a total bust. I’m not mad at it. But would I buy another listing? Ehhh…

I think this space has a lot of potential to share comics and maybe make a few bucks. I was certainly successful in my ā€œBuy my book, ā€˜Arika’, and I’ll draw ladies making outā€ campaign. That did a whole lot more than Artist Alley to push my presence here and sell some books.

But I don’t see Artist Alley being worth it right now. At best, it’s a way to support the Cohost dev team. But it’s not sustainable as a marketplace for little creatives trying to scrape by like ourselves.

I think I made about 30 bucks (gross, not net) from my listing, so yeah šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø maybe others were more successful? It was nice to support the site but it didn't feel super worth it... Thinking about trying another one focusing on my original art rather than my comics, though I'm not sure that would do any better.

I don’t have much faith it will be different. Especially as the newness of the venture wears off. I imagine there’s already been a big drop off of people clicking on the Artist Alley link. The good thing is that it’s only $10, and you’re supporting the site. You’re not out much. But paying 10 bucks to make 10 in a week is…it’s not good.
