Like the aged pretentious queer I am, I love to buy CDs and vinyl records and also to show off the ones I end up finding. Here are the ones I picked up at this month's Moseley Record Fair.

First Aid Kit - Who By Fire

The cover for Who By Fire by First Aid Kit, showing a black and blue portrait of the two singers, a blue vinyl records, and a poster with two blue birds against a black background. As a big fan of both First Aid Kit and Leonard Cohen, obviously I love this gorgeous tribute show. The version of Hallelujah, with lead vocals by Annika Norlin from Hello Saferide, is like a haunting cherry on top. ---

Manic Street Preachers - The Ultra Vivid Lament

The cover for The Ultra Vivid Lament by Manic Street Preachers, showing a turquoise and green beach photo with the title overlaid. I have to admit, I wasn't the biggest fan of Manics' last album Resistance Is Futile, but after giving the follow-up a chance I was pleasantly reminded of how powerful they can still be. The title is also perfect - this album is an exuberant, but furious, joy.

Beach Boys - Pet Sounds

The cover for Pet Sounds by Beach Boys, showing the band at a zoo feeding various animals by hand. Honestly, I was a bit ashamed to buy this because how don't I already own Pet Sounds? Thankfully, I do now. Perfect album, no notes.

Sea Power - Let The Dancers Inherit The Party

The cover for Let The Dancers Inherit The Party by British Sea Power, showing black text against a red background. Thank you Disco Elysium.

Biffy Clyro - The Myth of the Happily Ever After

The cover for The Myth of the Happily Ever After by Biffy Clyro, consisting of a montage of various photos and artwork in primarily white, red, and blue.

Biffy Clyro has released exactly one (1) album I do not care for, and this ain't it, babeyyy. In fact, this might be one of their best ones. Shame this pressing is absolute 128kpbs mp3 sounding garbage quality.
