the Lazy DM book called my ass out because it was like "sure, you spend a lot of time writing lore and building this lore for it but how much of that makes it into the game and how much of it is actually useful for prep? How much will your players even be able to learn?" and idk, i sometimes just get bogged down in that stuff because it's fun! for me!
but it is kind of just for me. will my players learn about the secret crush one of the PC's school buddies has on another? probably not! Will they engage at all with the lore of what makes certain things in the world work? again, probably not!
idk, i just found myself doing this again earlier and like, i have a game tonight and i've done very little prep but i spent a bunch of time working on a database for the game. Which is fun for me and DOES lay the groundwork for tracking and sharing campaign stuff more easily in the future. But it's not prepping for tonight's session
