What do I do if a dwarf claims a glass furnace in a strange mood and there's no sand on the map? Just hope they hold out until a caravan comes that I can buy sand from?
Does sand appear in caverns? Should I dig down to the lower layers of those?

I build my workshops with doors so I can lock dwarfs in if they are gonna go mad anyway. Kinda grim.
