I'm not a real robot, but I have a real face!

25, bi, genderless.

I stayed out of the whole dunking on mastodon cw culture thing because I know it did negatively affect a lot of peoples experience but at the same time I just didn't have an issue with it. I'll cw anything, I don't give a shit. It doesn't bother me in the slightest, rip to you but I'm built different (joke). I certainly don't want to pass judgement on anyone else for their own cwing preferences, if you think it's a hassle or don't think it's that important then do what's best for your blog. But I'm tapping the sign on my pinned post, if you follow me, feel free to ask me to cw whatever you want, either in the comments on my pinned post, or if you don't want to make the information available publicly, I guess wait until asks are added, or find me on Tumblr (same username) and send me an ask or dm there.

i pretty much cw nsfw and gore, otherwise i dont unless someone specifically requests it. but i do think that if people wanna put in the effort to do so, its not something to dunk on them for. its all about cultivating ur own online space, i guess. idk why people feel the need to be mean about it sometimes

I can see the argument that it creates an environment where people don't feel like they're allowed to speak openly about sensitive topics. From what I've seen a lot of people feel really strongly that if they have to put a post behind a click-through warning then that type of speech is being stigmatized or supressed in some way.

And there are some cases where I think that is definitely what's happening, but from outside of the fediverse, what I see people criticizing mastodon for are mostly things like cwing food or eye contact, not "please cw when you talk about racism, it makes me, a white person, uncomfortable."

yeah, i definitely see what u mean. the cw for racism to protect white eyeballs comfy levels definitely makes me worry lol. but cw for food and eye contact, its really not a big deal, and its normally just specific blogs or what have u that end up doing cws for those things in the first place because people asked or thats what their whole blog is about. most of my interactions online, people are asking for specific triggers to be cwed, not just things that could be generally upsetting.

i will say, since last night i did see a very interesting post on tumblr about people asking to tag self harm scars in art and photography. which while i understand how it could be hard to see for some people especially, it does make me wonder what they expect these people to do in real life, right? like, are they supposed to just wear makeup and hide their scars? and what if they arent self harm, but just look like it?

its a tough subject all around. but if people really dont want to see something, they can unfollow people, and if people want to be accommodating, they can be. i dont think other people should be judging them for this
