I really want to like this platform. I like the philosophy behind it, and as far as I'm aware it's the only microblogging platform any of my friends have accounts on that isn't a twitterlike besides tumblr.
that said. there's no way "showing who has interacted with a post and how they interacted with it all in one place for the person who made the post to see" is like. ideologically incompatible with cohost's anti-metrics philosophy right. you wouldn't need to Enumerate them or even have it be something everyone has access to, just like. show all the stuff that's already in "notifications", but filtered to only the notifications that are relevant to the specific post you're looking at. maybe even use a cute name that's short for "notifications" to refer to them

in reply to @hbm's post:

I wanna love any not-tumblr platform but they're all miserable to use. not that tumblr isn't but it's by far the closest to tolerable. I'm pretty close to giving up and leaving the internet. only thing keeping me online is spite, really. I don't wanna be another trans woman bullied into silence but why stay online when there are exactly zero good ways to meet and connect with people anymore? annoying rant I guess, sorry. just frustrated about cohost being another disappointment

Honestly if we could at least see shares/reblogs as well as comments for a post that would be the tweak I'd want. Likes can stay hidden from everyone except the OP, that's fine, who cares - but so much fun interaction & jokes happen in shares/reblogs and its basically impossible to keep track of them unless you're the OP.

yeah this has been rlly bothering me. i’d at least like a way to easily view the shares on a post. i think it’d be rlly difficult if my posts were getting a lot of shares and i wasn’t able to see what people are saying on an individual post

i really dont care abt who likes a post but i love going into reblog chains on tumblr and finding new info or jokes, and not being able to see those on here kinda stifles posts imo. but i am not the smartest person to ask about this, i just think being able to see share chains on here would be nice

I'm not entirely sure, but I think staff is planning to add metrics for creators at some point, it's just lower on their priority list. If that's true, then what you're describing wouldn't be out of the question.

I'm surprised that there are so many comments and no one mentioned this. I guess the comment section turned into a place for tired new users to vent about their frustrations.

p.s. for those who don't know yet, there's a separate site for submitting feedback. Though don't expect staff to immediately fix an issue because they're always super busy. Understaffed, if you will.

If Cohost is committed to their anti-metrics philosophy, they could still just... make it a toggle. Press a button in the settings, and you can see how many notes (or what-have-you, I'm using Tumblr lingo) each of your posts has gotten. It would make it easier for people to meet and interact, allow people to know how much their words have been seen or shared, and still give people the option to avoid metrics and not fall into "pull lever for treat" mindsets.
