fell into the wiki hole and came across this kinda surreal painting on the dazzle camouflage page. it was painted by james yunge-bateman in 1943, and depicts one of the workers at leamington spa placing a model into the test tank on the building's roof.

still thinking about this painting. what if renee magritte was tabling in artist alley at the local anime con and you asked him to do an evangelion commission but he didn’t know what that is because he died in 1967 so you had to try and explain it to him while he painted and it’s very loud in the convention hall and he’s clearly getting a bit confused or maybe you’re just not explaining things well but like, are you really going to tell magritte that he’s getting the details wrong about your robot anime?
