peach eating vagus nerve cultist of the house of tool ape

love an indie game

indie games as a whole for me are not a substitute for the rest of video games, pirated or not, when a lot of them ultimately require troubleshooting or extensive configuration

my brain problems afford me precious little time to do anything in the day that isnt resting or doing an insufficient amount of care for myself. you know what isnt fun is when you use up all your energy trying to figure out why this fucking game wont launch and now its been an hour and the excitement has rotted and i need a klonopin because i am so overwhelmed attempting to do research that i need to take a nap so i can be ready to make dinner later. no game got played and i am only more tired and stressed than when i began

please do not leave me behind when you talk about what people "should" be willing to do. even if it is about video games. you will forget that people less capable than you exist in other contexts if you arent thinking about the ones where you think it doesnt matter

it is further my strongly held opinion that all the gas spent spinning wheels on being very invested in the mindpurity of the media consumption of strangers would be much better used getting invested in the conditions of your neighbors

btw: kind strangers, if you show up here to negate my autobiographical account of computers being hard to use when you are brain-injured or to offer unwanted suggestions i will probably tell you to get fucked and then cry to myself about it later

in reply to @rotsharp's post:

i saw some folks making a very similar point on The Post and i think that's really the fundamental disagreement i had with OP: the world is goddamn exhausting, and that's my perspective as an ostensibly abled person.

sure, i can sift through the apparent antagonism and come away agreeing with the thesis, but I'm still not gonna bully people into giving up things that bring them peace, y'know?

lot of weird takes on the 'host today

"all the gas spent spinning wheels on being very invested in the mindpurity of the media consumption of strangers would be much better used getting invested in the conditions of your neighbors" is so well put and Extremely how I feel about all of this

This is true, and partly why I've been mostly not been playing on PC lately (altho console games are their own can of worms in accessibility)

I mostly still play indie games cuz I find AAA games a bit too overwhelming honestly (I played monster hunter world for a while and when the big dinosaur hit me with the big tail I died in real life) but what matters is that we find happiness in life in our own way.

im just confused about why the creator of The Post would wish to police how people do media consumption. it seems ultimately meaningless, regardless of how those people engage with specifically corporate media. i really don't care if i did a wrong-think. idk.

i am massively confused about why or even how people are reading the post in a way that suggests the author is trying to police other's media consumption. the main thing i got out of reading it was "if you are pirating games for what you believe are anti-corporate reasons, don't give the same corporations free advertising when you do" and i really really struggle with understanding how anyone could interpret that as "consume media how i want you to or else"

yeah I totally agree with you on that.

seeing people on the global feed accuse the author of "trying to be the main character like on twitter" is really giving me bad vibes, especially because literally none of the "incentives" twitter had to do that exist here so I don't understand how anyone could honestly come to that conclusion
