i went to the weeping peninsula to start the flame of frenzy quest and grab the flame of frenzy spell and the opaline tear. i practiced free aiming the spell by using it to take out the entire group of nobles at waypoint ruins until a second noble sword finally dropped a short while later. i have been treating this exercise kind of like a road trip. my first time with any souls game, i refrain from looking up anything until i get an ending. with the power of internet search on my side i go for as much completionism as is fun. often, i tend to explore thoroughly enough that i see most of the game the first time through. in elden ring i managed to bumble through rannis entire quest by happenstance. then i will do a new game with an intentional build. thus, crucible asunder.
i went like this the first time around: south limgrave, weeping peninsula, caelid, godfrey. aimlessly thorough. now i have a list of goodies i want for my build and i am doing two things about it: doing only the stuff on the way or near to those goals, and spending as much time on foot as possible. i did not remember much of the peninsula since my first trip there did everything there was to do and i never went back, so i looked up where the flame of frenzy was, remembering only that it was Somewhere there.
cut to maybe half an hour later i have offered incense to the dawn and gotten lost in a forest trying to find a village full of chaos liberals. you say you want to dissolve separation, but yet you are clearly imposing a border? indolence and indulgence. we cant stop here this is rat country. with the flame of frenzy in hand i puke liberation unyielding from my sight on the erdtree avatar aka a giant rootlicking class traitor. big gold mommy cant save you from me.
the next closest item on the list is crucible tail, so it is back to limgrave. i am way underpowered to kill this crucible knight, pathetic discarded assimilationist that it is. imagine betraying the whole of the world to be rewarded with being put in eternal time out in a lightless uncorner of the universe, stripped of even your name. anyway, tail was an mvp of my first game so i persevere despite not being able to use it for a while.
