left tokyo this morning and day tripped to kanazawa, had never been on this side of japan before. bullet train through nagano area was sick. walked around a bunch, saw the old samurai district with a bunch of old buildings and urban layouts they’ve restored and modernized while keeping old charm. love a good waterway on the side of the path. then went to kenroku-en, a big ol pretty park that used to be the outer garden for kanazawa castle. then jumped on a THUNDERBIRD train, which isn’t a bullet train but still damn fast, and got to our hotel in osaka.
