A pretty good reading week all things considered. Started reading my next "novel" of the year, 面白ければなんでもあり. Also continued to read 葬送のフリーレン.
📚 面白ければなんでもあり 56 pages
A non-fiction book about producing marketable/successful media. The author has been involved in the publication of a number of LNs (tbh I haven't read any of them so I either rely on cultural osmosis to know what to expect, or rely on the author's explanations for context) and uses different ones to demonstrate different strategies for producing successfully. I want to say I don't really like non-fiction but tbh between this and the two eromanga-focused books I read, they have a pretty good track record for keeping my interest as long as the material feels like it'll benefit my thinking in some way.
🧙🧙♀️ 葬送のフリーレン Vols 4-7
I read quite a bit of this so I'll try to keep the story stuff light. After parting ways with ザイン (the priest), most of the meat of the story has been about フリーレン and フェルン doing a tournament arc to get recognised as 一級魔法使い. Volumes 5 and 6 were almost entirely tournament chapters, and the first chapter of volume 7 technically is, although the last trial is not really noteworthy from a shounen-reader perspective. I continue to enjoy the way the story uses フリーレン's near-immortality to create paired scenarios between her first journey and her current one. I really like フェルン and シュタルク's budding relationship.
Audio/Other
Just the bare minimum with audio immersion. Mostly picked away at キヨ's Super Luigi U video throughout the week any time I felt like I was falling behind.
Life Stuff
Finished with week 2 of my second semester. That's 1/6th of the way there already! I'm doing some school-related blog posting (that may be interesting to those who like my shotgun thoughts) over here. If I ever feel particularly proud of anything maybe I'll crosspost it on cohost, though. School work is ramping up (so many teachers love to make the first assignment due at the end of Week 4 so I have 5-ish things all due then...) but once I'm past the first hump things should cool off again.
