Crunchy put up a trailer a couple weeks ago and it wasn't really clear what we were getting; this show's episode count is in the thousands and this isn't the first time they've tried to sell it outside Asia (I saw a test screening at a convention years ago, in fact). Looks like they're just subbing new episodes as they run week by week.
It's immediately apparent why this is beloved and long-running: it's the kind of "family" cartoon that parents and kids can legitimately agree on, a sweet sitcom cut just right with a little cynicism for spice. Doesn't talk down to kids or aggressively moralize or bullshit them. Flawed characters who are easy to forgive. Maruko is lazy, and that's okay.
