the one variable in this equation i can't be certain of is exactly how much leeway Elon is going to be afforded when the whole teetering wreck he's turned the machine into finally tumbles, because the people whose job it would nominally be to make sure that he shouldn't simply get away with this think it would set a dangerous precedent to the tune of "if one rich and powerful man could be held responsible for his wrongdoing, then all of us could be held responsible for our wrongdoing"
