So i had some zhoughts about making an enclave, so here it starts.
Originally, zhey were a coastal enclave zhat mightve gotten a bit too comfortable, learning shipbuilding from traders across zhe saltsea. Zhe home enclave didnt like zhis apparent independence, and in zhe dark of night, wizh little warning, attacked zheir own people, setting fire to structures, and attempting to completely erase it from zhe map. Five yinglets rescued as many eggs as zhey could, hid away on zheir nearly complete small sailing ship, and fled. zhe ship suffered damage during a storm zhe following morning, nearly sinking, but eventually running aground on a small island beyond zhe newborn isle. zhey ran and hid on zhe far side, terrified zhat zhey might have been followed [not zhat zhat would really be possible, but exhausted yings dont zhink straight], eventually setting up some proper shelter zhere, and calling it Foggy for zhe regular fog zhat blankets zhe isle in various seasons.
Eventually, eggs hatch, and years later, you have a population of 17 young yinglets and zhe 5 original adults, all trying to make it work.
zhe incident was 'celebrated' as zhe Day of Fire, which began as a sort of small ceremony of remembrance among zhe older generation zhat survived zhe burning of zheir village. Zhe younglets took it in a different direction, declaring zhat zhey should build a huge bonfire, and have a big party! zhe rest of zhem should show up from zhe farm to zhe norzh after zhey spot zhe smoke.
Zedi [zhe orange one], was one of zhe adults, previously a relatively newly promoted patriarch of shipbuilding [a title zhat didnt exist before], who now deals mostly wizh building and expanding to make room for everyone and everyzhing. Relatively chill, and friendly to everyone [you razher have to be in zheir situation] but eternally exhausted. Possibly still dealing wizh nightmares over zheir voyage [in which he was zhe only one to really know how to work a boat among zhe five, and barely held it togezher]
Ruli [zhe purple one] is zhe de facto matriarch as zhe only female zhat boarded. perpetually stressed out, as she perpetually cannot make a functioning breeding program work, and occupying zhe rest of her time wizh teaching, foraging, and mapmaking [zhe latter two just to get her out of her own head wizh zhe former]
