@Meitsme asked:

Got any recs for RPG Maker games that more people should know about?

YES absolutely

everything unity makes, but especially Weird and Unfortunate Things are Happening for a meaty, solid traditional RPG with just enough strange things to surprise you

Wine & Roses and Ashes of Roses by craze. these games were an inspiring catalyst for Bossgame - both are RPGs focused on heavy tactics & planning, where every battle is unique and there are tons of ways to build your party. a poetic writing style and gay drama adds a lot, too ~

Cataphract OI by @mcdonalds. just a really damn cool way of navigating a dungeon with the threat of time pressure. i love anything that has the trappings of a classic RPG but uses mechanics that totally shift the tone.

don't sing me the blues, please, sing me a BRIGHT RED SONG OF LOVE by me!!! i finally did it... i released an rpg maker game this year! it's a small and strange game about two women who have fifteen minutes to explore a dungeon, get stronger, and discover its secrets before the goddess of mars tries to kill them. right now it's available as part of the LOCALLY SOURCED SPACE ANTHOLOGY along with a bunch of other games from our local indie scene!

I haven't yet played the other games in the Space Anthology, but Lily's don't sing me the blues, please, sing me a BRIGHT RED SONG OF LOVE! is great. It's a compact puzzlebox of an RPG, where you're stuck in a timeloop, gradually gaining more knowledge about how to safely navigate your hostile environment with every iteration... and learning more about your blossoming lesbian relationship too, of course.

It's a game for people who enjoyed the esoteric puzzles of Void Stranger or the unravelling sci-fi romance writing of This Is How You Lose the Time War.
