even back when I was a teenager, 25 years ago now, my parents told me to start private pension savings as soon as I can because there's no way I'm getting a non-laughable state pension by the time I reach retirement age, if any at all

like this has been an open secret for literally most, if not all, of my entire life but post-WW2 capitalism infested everything so quickly and fortified its position so much that even that isn't enough of a timescale for it to do anything other than slap band-aids on the problem
