Every cat has one carb that they love. Could be potatoes or bread or rice. We had a cat that would bite through plastic to get at bread if you left it out on the kitchen counter.

my baby used to ask for fremch fry and would just bat it around for hours. you could give him an actual potato and he would beat the shit out of it chasing it around the whole house.

my cat LOVES sourdough bread she's like obsessed with it. she also loves french bread. so much so that one time we got a loaf of fresh french bread and she opened the cupboard and bit through the paper to bite chunks out of the bread
