It's time for some proper lore for the Rafflesia Canon stuff I've been posting.

Empty Zones are areas located across the world that are nearly uninhabited. They have relatively sparse vegetation and dangerously high levels of radiation across much of them. In many parts of the Empty Zones, the ground itself is poisoned and unable to grow anything at all. The strangest thing about them however, is the presence of Tombstones.

Tombstones are actually found all over the world, but they are not only a common sight in the Empty Zones, but some places have dozens of them standing above the ground. Tombstones are an enigma, being extremely tall pillars of tungsten that extend far underground. They predate all living civilizations and their true purpose has been long debated, but never discovered. They are clearly not natural parts of the world, but as to why they were driven into the ground at all remains a mystery, as is their density within the Empty Zones.
