There’s a lot about Void Stranger’s aesthetic and design vibe that appeal to me, but I generally hate sokoban games.
Last night, in a fit of productive insomnia, I wrote down everything I could think about with Star Wars, and then organized it into an objective and uncontroversial list of relative greatness. There's a very good chance my feelings on a lot of these rankings changes by the end of the day, but I think the wonderful thing about Star Wars is how interactive and modular the experience of enjoying Star Wars is. Star Wars is building blocks to be pulled apart and put back together; imagery to be repeated and recontextualized; quotations to be memorized and expounded. Like the characters of Star Wars working on their own starships, Star Wars fandom, at its best, is about getting inside the thing, breaking it apart, and making it your own-- preferably with a few good jokes and a near-death experience along the way.
