Just a compilation of helpful tutorials or fun utilities shared by cohorts. Mostly a resource for myself to easily re-find helpful things, but maybe other folks will find this handy too! I'll probably update this post over time as I learn new things around here.

Timeline Deduplicator by @nex3

Essential kit when you're following a large amount of people in the same community, this will collapse any duplicated rehosts. You will need to install Tampermonkey and then copy/paste the script into it to run, quick and easy. Find it here.

Tags & Bookmarking

Tags are the intended mode of discovery (unless you're kickstarting with lists like I am), and also can effectively form a second timeline based on your interests with Bookmarking. Bookmark tags you like, and switch from "latest posts" to "bookmarked tags".

On your profile you can also have Pinned Tags. If you regularly use specific tags, including unique tags you've created for your own posts, you can list them on your profile for people to easily find.

Those unique tags by the way? Great way to let people engage with a specific type of post via bookmarking without needing to follow you.

Unfollowing

Unfollowing people is quick, quiet, and undramatic. Checking your list of followers is also pretty hard. Mutuals aren't a useful concept here. So follow anyone who catches your eye, and if you realise you don't vibe unfollow! No one's gonna get upset.

Posting Like Twitter

Don't feel like you have to post big! You don't need to add titles, or tags, or images, or syntax. You can just quickly write out a thought and send it out, posting is so quick now! I encourage everyone to break that fear and post terribly too.

in reply to @dumplingowl's post:

So an different option for the image hosting if you want to use cohost still: create a private page on cohost that you just post the raw images to. Then you can link the cohost image hosting directly from there. They shouldn't disappear after site changes if it's setup that way.

pro tip: if you need image hosting and don't want to go through the bother of using another service you can always create a page here where you post your raw photos and link from there.
