Just finished this fun little experiment with some paint markers and scrap plex from work. I’ll have to see how much scrap plex they’ll let me take now lol. Especially like how I can get a free extra layer by just sitting it on a mirror.

I've had a big assemblage of thin acrylic panels in a frame (like a transparent shadowbox) for a while now with the intention of making something like this but using several thin layers. it's really striking how the paint looks on THICK acrylic!
Did the paint marker cover this easily? When I've tried brushing paint into plastic it wants to bead up like water.

I only had a small issue with coverage when I wasn’t making sure to lay it on really thick. Like in the middle of a line, voids would form and I went back over them either immediately or later on if I didn’t see them form right away.
I used Krink K-42 paint markers, I don’t actually know much about the paint in them besides it being alcohol based. I assume the super weak surface tension is a major factor in how well this works on impermeable surfaces.
Krink! I'll have to check those out, I've seen them around but never played with them.
I bet paints for glass would play pretty well on plastic surfaces. I'm not sure I've ever seen any of those which weren't designed to come off or fade though.

But yeah I think anything alcohol based should work pretty well on acrylic since the alcohol will sort of attack the surface as it evaporates.
