@sapphire

in a first for this blog, i actually read something in its entirety before reblogging. it's really less about therapy and more about rich weirdos using their platforms to peddle antisocial ideas. i'm also just generally on-board with any kind of NYT hit piece

Who told you that your job in life is to free yourself? “Freeing yourself” is very often the opposite of pursuing moral action.

This also speaks to something I really value but can't put my own words to just yet. But it does ring true to me!

I don't mean that law, in the concrete legal sense, is a blanket good (obviously). But capital-L Law, that binds us to each other (and everything), those dictates issued from the deepest parts of our doki doki: that's the good stuff. Having to do stuff I don't like out of responsibility to another person is what most clearly reminds me I'm not the main character, and god, do i need that sometimes. i think a lot of people do just because of how capitalist society primes us to think about ourselves.

anyways, the article is quite good, so please consider reading it. thank you terence for bringing it to my attention!
