I am such a hypocrite because I utterly and vehemently detest male fantasy stories where the MC is an audience surrogate normal guy who is heroic and everyone loves him and all the girls wanna sleep with him, but I am helplessly sucked into stories with an MC who is an audience surrogate lovable dork tall lesbian who is heroic and everyone loves her and all the girls wanna sleep with her.
I've decided this is very good and okay of me, actually.
this isn't hypocrisy imo it's just that people like stories that cater to them and only those dull straight dudes get that experience on a regular basis
Yeah for sure, I guess it just feels a bit mean of me to make fun of straight dudes for liking something that caters to them even though I enjoy basically the same shit except catered to me.
Then I realize they are boring straight dudes and the vast majority of content is catered only to them and I feel less bad lol.
imo the main problem is that 1) that shit is overwhelmingly everywhere and it's exhausting, and 2) they feel entitled to it and get mad when anything else dares exist. not that they're hetero or whatever. it's the implicit forcefulness behind it
The amusing thing is that the guy getting hosed and the girl getting p much everything is more fun to me, and even seems more normal to me.
I wouldn't call it hypocritical, but I would call it biased (which aren't the same).
Being cognizant of your bias is great, though.

Yeah I thought it was funny to phrase it this way but I'm glad people get where I'm coming from. ^^; It's not really hypocrisy to enjoy something that makes me happy after wading through tons and tons of media only made for cis men, I guess it just sounds hypocritical in a vacuum? And even then idk,,
It's only hypocritical if you take it to more than just preference, and generally, you're more likely to hear "sexist" first.
