Like the fantasy always involves “Okay so I pay off my debts and use the money to make sure Luna and I are no longer long distance and then I just start giving other partners and friends money to pay off their debts and helping random people with their gofundmes and give to every mutual aid request I see on my feed” and society is like “no, you need to invest that” but as far as I’m concerned I am investing it because someone being less stressed and happier is going to make their lives better and maybe that will also make other people’s lives better and I’d rather invest in joy than stocks because one is real and one is rich people circlejerking.

Same. Like sure, I'll "invest" in the businesses of my friends probably. More to do with wanting to help them with their dreams rather than a desire to see a return, but beyond that? After me and my family are squared away, what else is there for me to get? I don't need a mansion or anything, a 3 bedroom house with outdoor space is all I want, and those are pretty common. I don't need a fancy sports car, just a reliable new one. Artwork? Pffft, I'll just commission like 200 queer artists to fill my house with artwork I actually want to look at. I have no idea how rich people hold onto that wealth, like what does it achieve by sitting a bank or in some other person's stocks? Generating more money? For what? Just give away everything thats extra.
