this thing is fascinating. it's a Toyota Century, a luxury car primarily intended for the Japanese market which had nearly identical styling from 1967 to 2018. they've made the current generation incredibly ugly, probably in service of very understandable and important pedestrian safety regulations, but it is impossible not to be fascinated by the previous generations
the car in this photo materialized on Rainier Blvd about a week ago and hasn't moved since. It looks a little bit beat up on the side but not too bad, and I'm really curious what its history is. That particular stretch of road is primarily rich people, and this car was originally intended for the very rich, both because of the over $100,000 price tag, and the general vibe.
I've never heard of a Car Person buying a century used; hell, I've never even seen one in the flesh before. so I can't help but wonder if this is someone's nobility-adjacent parents visiting. at any rate, the car is an arresting sight and I was pleased to get to see one
If you're in Canada, you can get this 1997 model with 169,261 KM for only CA$12,700.
(I may or may not spend a lot of time ogling the cars on this site and other Canadian JDM importers.)
