Over the last two days I read Her Tale of Shim Chong. It's a gorgeous story, kind of like Moonlight Garden, but much more grounded, and without the sex. It's very much a love story between two women who feel stuck by what fate has left them, crushed by social expectations, who do what they can to survive. The art is absolutely gorgeous and the story is poetic and full of beauty and sadness.

This is a dark, deeply sad story of suffering about the relationship between a slave and her mistress. It is very sad, very violent, and very powerful. It's very different from a lot of what I've been reading recently and I love it, even if it can hurt to read. I'm not done yet, but so far it's incredible. It is the opposite of fluffy.
