finished assassn’s quest earlier today and really, really liked it. feels like i could write a whole essay on some of the characters but also it’s 4:45am and i don’t want to. i spent the last 150 pages simultaneously going ‘holy shit this is so cool’ whilst also being impressed by what a thoughtful and skilled writer Robin Hobb is, which to me is the essence of good genre fiction.

really enjoying the farseer trilogy. unfortunately every time the fool is in a scene all i can picture is this guy, the jester from dragon’s dogma. it takes a herculean effort of imagination to do otherwise, and if my guard slips there he is, ruining the drama of the moment.
