According to last.fm this is my most played track over the last 365 days. I have it as a part of my PUMP UP playlist which I play when I want to get pumped up and motivated and I often listen to it during work so these tracks get a lot of playtime.

Anyway I really like this track. First, I think the precise way the lyrics are sung feels reminiscent of a “perfect” professional singer, as a top Idol might considered to be. Ikura’s enunciation is also cute, like how she says desu.

The song is also mixed very well. It has a lot of elements, including some ear candy like high hat rolls and sweeps but they are all easy to pick out which emphasizes the precise, constructed nature of the song. The hi hats especially play off nicely from the precise vocals. Like at the beginning the individual mora (syllables, kinda) are emphasized in the vocals and their rhythm kind of becomes its own percussive element next to the hi hats and other percussive ear candy.

I also enjoy the transitions between upbeat/cute to more morose, and then to grand and intimidating at 2:05, continuously building the energy with drums, layering strings, and then relieving all of that pressure. It is often a very fun thing when an Idol demonstrates a variety of vocal ranges and styles, usually across different songs, but this song lets you get everything at once.
