If this show had been one notch less courageous than it was about its premise, it wouldn't have been able to stick the landing. This was a truly brave anime. Secret treasure of the season.

I suspect that in the early 2000s, Japanese arcade games got the most Maniac they were ever going to get. Even for its genre, Dodonpachi Daioujou represents some kind of high mark in hardcore difficulty.
