I always say that i'm a better cook than a baker but that's only because I'm more comfortable cooking than I am baking. Baking is a little more intimidating because it often feels like there's a lot less room for improvisation and experimentation; I can always play around to taste when cooking like a stir fry, or marinating + seasoning a steak or something, but with baking if one thing goes wrong, sometimes that messes the whole damn thing up.

But baking can often feel a little more rewarding to me, too

That same improvisation in cooking a stir fry already reveals what the finished result is going to taste like--or at least, extremely close to it. That marinade is probably not going to be so dramatically different when put on top of this steak.

Halfway through baking this pan of cinnamon rolls, I realize I have absolutely no idea what these are going to taste like or how they are going to appear in the oven.

And...the thrill of knowing what I got right is really rewarding, after the fact! And arguably, knowing what I got wrong if I screw something up is just as valuable.
It's just something I didn't expect to like as much as I do. I hope one day i get comfortable enough with this medium to try Wild and Crazy stuff

silly unconfigured steam deck buttons screenshots aside: I'm really enjoying Ni no Kuni so far! I always knew I'd really enjoy this series, but have always put it off for some reason or another. What really caught me off guard are all the extremely charming monster designs so i think i want to finish it just to see them all at this point
