I genuinely thought the cohost global feed was a place for people to slap their 'I want as many people as possible to see this' stuff. :S

i actually am really terrible at searching for things i like! I don't remember all those things! it was kinda cool to just have a lil stream of possibly interesting stuff to browse

it's a bummer that the site architecture creaks and strains under the weight of such a tag. also a bummer that folks feel the need to be snooty about it but i luckily haven't seen too much of that

I don't even know what those reasons are, I just feel like I've been pissing in the piss bucket that is actually, in fact, not for piss! And I thought - I mean we call it the piss bucket?! Why do we call it that!? What do you mean it's not called the piss bucket?!

Yeah. I didn't know it was actually causing backend problems. I'm sort of ambivalent about whether a General Global Feed is a good thing in the main or not but like don't feel bad cause literally everyone thought the same other than basically Thumbs (who made it up as a joke) and the ASSC folks.

I guess I've been around here long enough to have seen it start as a joke that immediately got actual use, plus also turn into a weird meta joke of "the cohost global feed (joke goes here)" form, plus the format being weirdly taken for I guess serious use in "local feed (place) form, because, you know, stuff just sorta happens like that...

It is. staff is complaining because of this series of events:

  • person A makes a post expressing a personal opinion that they expect 13 people who all followed them on purpose will see

  • person B who doesn’t like the opinion rebugs it in anger and adds the cohost global feed to their wrath post

  • person A now sees all the comments that result
