Realizing that when Charlie said her dad only calls her when he needs something...
It was likely the depression getting to him and him just making small talk because he just wanted to hear her voice

Thinking and getting misty eyed over Lucifer, isolating himself from Charlie for years, being crushed and depressed over his own failures
Years later, when they reconnect, he tries incredibly hard to win over her affection...only to learn that all she wanted was to see who he was, the thing he was perhaps most terrified to show her. The love never went away

anyways I love this show and I'm thinking about it a lot
