Everyone knows the classic game Blackjack, originally released on the Playing Cards system as part of the Gambling series. But did you know the game contains cut content normal players will never get to experience?

In Blackjack, “Ace” cards count as either a 1 or an 11, depending on whether or not an 11 would cause your total to exceed 21. However, looking into the game’s inner workings reveals that, in fact, every card has this property! Any card in the game can count as either its regular value, or that value times 11. However, aces are the only card for which this doesn’t immediately exceed 21, and so, you only ever see this occur with aces.

I believe this suggests that the classic goal of 21 was originally going to be something much higher. I’d love to see this idea explored further, maybe in an alternate gamemode in an update or even a sequel. Anyways, be sure to subscribe for more awesome unused content!

There is a demo for a black-jack based rogue-like on itch.io, called Dungeons and degenerate gamblers (https://purplemosscollectors.itch.io/dndg). You start with a deck of standard playing cards, but over the course of the run you can find cards with special effects. There are two that i remember that change your or your opponents goal number. This post reminded me of it a bit.

Doesn't have a double-ace to take advantage of that higher limit, at least not that i am aware of it, though it does have a 0.5 card which is either 0 or 1, for the same condition as the ace and the Pi card which is 3 or 4, again same condition.
