I think it diverges pretty heavily from the original Dungeon Explorer series so it gets a bit of a bad rap, but yeah it's actually quite a fun little game (if I remember correctly). It's on my DS backlog, so I'd like to play it again soon :)
I think I've mentioned this before, but yeah Dungeon Explorer I and II were pretty great Gauntlet clones on the TurboGrafx. Yet even as one of like seven people who are actually nostalgic about that franchise, I didn't even know the DS game existed until relatively recently.
This one kind of reminds me of Soma Bringer, which was a blast back in the day if you could align the stars to play it multiplayer and in English. I'd be interested in hearing how this one holds up if you decide to replay it!
I was hyped when I stumbled across them while working at gstop back in the day. They're pretty awesome, but I'd be scared to look up a cart now.
