I found myself hitting a wall several times during my first play through of this. Everything is just so large and windy that it's easy to get lost or miss hidden areas. I agree that it's hard to get around! Even after using the closest stagway, you end up needing to walk for what seems like forever to get to your actual destination - all the more frustrating when it turns out to be a dead end, or you don't have what you thought you needed to progress.
Without spoiling much, there actually is an ability to save a spot and return to it. While it's extremely convenient, I've always felt it's provided later than it should be; plus, it isn't obvious how to attain it. Let me know if you'd like to learn more about it though, as it's fairly easy to get once you know how.
Either way, I hope you carry on to the end! I'm glad you've been loving it so much. Your posts egged me on enough that I eventually started a fresh run for myself, had a blast going through it again.
That’s awesome you picked it up again! I’m really enjoying it but I’m kind of getting to the end of committing to a completely blind run. I’m on about 25hrs playtime and wasn’t really expecting to devote this much time to the game, despite really enjoying it! I’m not going to look up a proper walkthrough or anything, but I’d take some advice to get that ability - it sounds incredibly useful!
Yeah it's a long one, especially if you search out every secret, collectible, hidden boss, etc. etc.
Assuming you have the Spirit Nail already, you just need to earn 900 Dream Essence and you can unlock the ability. It sounds like a lot, but it's not so bad if you hunt down a few of those Whispering Roots and fight a few Warrior Dreams (some of the fights may take a couple tries, but they're generally very fun mini bosses). There are also a handful of true bosses you can go back and fight harder versions of, but I don't recommend that unless you want a true challenge. A couple of the items you earn on the way to 900 are quite useful, too.
If you haven't unlocked the Spirit Nail, you'll need to make your way to the Resting Grounds - as far east as you can go on the map. There's a moth there you can speak to and she's the one who grants you the Nail and each reward for accumulating Essence.
Oh dear that sounds like a lot. Yes I’ve got the dream nail but I kind of suck at the boss fights tbh… I gained the skill I wanted by finishing the crystalline mound (I think that’s right) - it’s the dark descent one. I’m now back at the watcher knights and they’re still fucking me up. I can kill maybe one of them but then they just fuck me up… not sure if I’m doing something wrong…
anyway I might put the game to one side for a bit. I love the atmosphere/sound design/exploration but I don’t think I’m not cut out for action boss fights. I always struggle with them in other games too (I’m just not an action gamer sadly), sometimes I push through but at the minute I’ve got a busy job and two small children. I don’t need more stress haha thanks for you help! :)
