I've been fully marinating myself in Armored Core 6 for the last few days. It's so surreal playing an Armored Core game that just came out, that looks and feels this good, and that everyone everywhere is talking about.
Game's got a gorgeous photo mode also.
Last year I made an Armored Core-inspired solo ttrpg called WING GAMBIT, and I feel like maybe I should mention it...somewhere? Ever? I'm trying to be better at talking about things when I do them.
You generate missions from warring factions using a deck of playing cards, then play out tactical battles on a chess board or equivalent. The combat is fast and puzzly; you maneuver around the grid trying to outmaneuver enemy units while managing little power gauges full of d6s. Between missions you customize your mech with modular parts and weapons. The balance of power shifts over time based on what missions you take (or don't take) with shifting alliances, betrayals, factions crumbling and new ones emerging. Maybe the war will end someday but hopefully not until you've earned enough to retire.
