a helicopter is a contraption. no arguments on this point. it's shocking they make a sound other than "1930s toontown awooga car struggling to turn over"
- rotor held on by single, large nut and milspec thread lock
- steered by using a rigid plate to suggest where rotor blades should go
- most energy converted to noise
- piloted only by levers, dials and valves
- fragile and prone to explosions
- vehicle with the most catostrophic accidents in it's class
a helicopter is a steam locomotive
I dunno about horses and contraptions vs gizmos in regard to helicopters all I can tell you for sure is that flying one is terrifying
An airplane flies because of mans mastery of the theories of fluid and thermal dynamics.
A helicopter flies because its so ugly the ground just pushes them away.
I've also heard helicopters, specifically the MH-36 be described as "10,000 loosely associated metal pieces rotating wildly around an oil leak."
