ok so i want to preface this with the fact that i did a search for this but search engines such so much nowadays that i couldn't find a good tutorial. what's the best way to back up an entire Blu-ray disc? i'm currently using makemkv's backup feature.
i wanna share some discs that only have english subs on the movie, in the hopes that someone interested might wanna look into adding subtitles for the special features. thus i don't want the special features to just be unlabeled and feel that having the menus for the discs helps
seriously, digital versions are revisionist and aren't perfect versions made to completely ignore the old versions. the digital preservation of the original issues is extremely important cos that's the way it was originally intended to look. digital coloring replacing those original colors is revisionism and in a lot of cases completely destroys the intended mood and goes against the writing and pencils and inks.
on the left is the "cleaned up" version. sure there's "more detail" but there's not supposed to be. it's supposed to be inky and shadowy. this is the equivalent of a 4k remaster that cranks up the brightness and contrast and ruins the black levels.
