After a fashion, the idea was to map out the cuts and positioning of everything needed to translate a 2d sheet back into a complex 3D shape, texture it as a flat and then sorta origami it together. The copper has enough give that if you can get the ballpark of the right shape it can be deformed the rest of the way

Problem comes from the cuts being complicated to make accurately, at least with a pair of shears, and if you get em wrong the form comes out all fucked up. There's lots of ways to do it with big fancy industrial equipment, gonna have to figure out something between the two extremes
