gonna be honest. no idea what this has to do with what I think of as urbanism which is banning cars in cities, building public transit, building more parks, building more high-density housing, getting rid of food deserts, integrating small-buisiness and residential areas via dezoning, and ousting price-gouging landlords in favor of community-owned fully affordable housing. i feel like you're alienating a lot of people who are sympathetic to the ideals of racial equality in cities by saying no yimbies.
genuine question: is there a term for someone who is pro-affordable housing? like, as a specific stance or coalition.
I don't think I see anything shorter than like "affordable housing advocate" or "housing advocate." Or indicators that they are concerned with housing those who need it most, e.g., housing for those who are currently unhoused, or folks who are anti-displacement.
Makes sense.
Do you have any opinion on Housing First groups? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Housing_First
As far as I know, these are good policies generally speaking, but the devil can be be in the details re: how programs are administered.
In San Diego one can be a literal YIMBY. The city has expedited permitting for backyard granny flats (legal term is accessory dwelling unit or ADU) with a menu of pre-approved blueprints.
