the most important piece of castlevania lore is because AoS happens in 2035 Soma Cruz would have grown up playing Minecraft and when he sees zombies and skeletal archers in the castle for the first time he'd be like "Wow... Minecraft in real life..."
he totally stole that outfit to a girlfriend, a sister or a sister's girlfriend
maybe he's actually more normal than all of us, and what baffles him is that an ancient labyrinthine castle full of undead monstrosities has materialized, and this one fuckin guy's first thought is "great location, bet i could make a few bucks flipping Excalibur"

Where most castlevania protagonists have legendary vampire killing weapons. Soma first heads into dracula's castle and starts to fight hoards of undead monsters with nothing but a pocket knife.
We can't help but stan.
Fun fact: the 2035 eclipse that starts this game off is an actual predicted eclipse that should happen IRL.
