i did a lot of anime watching and manga reading over the past month so i'm gonna try to capture it all here so i don't forget

  • given - this is a yaoi/BL anime about boys in a band, I really liked this one? it's cute. there's a movie/OVA that focuses on the older characters that got a little less cute and more intense but I liked it as well.
  • Sasaki & Miyano - another BL anime, this is like pure sugar fluff fujoshi bait but I still had a good time even if sometimes the burn is so slow and the characters so dense that it was frustrating.
  • Adachi & Shimamura - very slow yuri anime that doesn't really wrap up its story - I dunno if I'm going to go read the light novels or not? I was getting kind of burnt out on the character dynamic. Romantic plot aside, lot of interesting stuff around different kinds of introversion in this though.
  • Bloom Into You - another yuri/GL story. I started with the anime and then went and read the manga. It's tropey as hell but I liked it overall.
  • How Do We Relationship - calling this another yuri manga wouldn't do it justice. jesus christ. I love this one a lot but had to take breaks at points to emotionally recover, it gets heavy. Ongoing and I'm gonna have to start buying the volumes.
  • Blank Canvas - this one is actually not any kind of romance story! Akiko Higashimura's autobiographical manga about her art journey is extremely good and relatable to anyone who's struggled with creativity. Really special stuff.
  • X-Gender - another autobiography, by Asuka Miyazaki. Focuses on their experiences as they deal with their gender identity and sexuality, learning about the broader LGBTQ scene, etc. Good stuff.
  • Land of the Lustrous - could very loosely describe this as a sort of sci-fi/fantasy manga, but that falls extremely short, it's such an incredibly unique thing. Loved this. Ongoing, I'll probably start buying the new volumes.
  • I Think Our Son Is Gay - manga from the perspective of a mother who believes her son is gay, it's pretty heartwarming and does treat the subject matter with care, but I'm not super interested in the concept?
  • Love Me For Who I Am - very moe manga about a non-binary person who goes to work at a crossdressing maid cafe. I picked this up because there are so few manga about non-binary characters. Deals with a lot of issues around gender identity and sexuality. My main complaint is that it will go from pure moe fluff to more extreme/heavy subject matter in a way that feels like it isn't doing it justice?
  • Seaside Stranger - yaoi manga about two boys who meet up and fall in love briefly, then get back together years later. I didn't really enjoy this one for technical reasons more than anything else - had a lot of trouble following the dialogue.
  • Heavenly Delusion - sci-fi/horror post-apocalyptic manga, lot of Promised Neverland and Drifting Classroom vibes. It's interesting and well-written despite some questionable content in it. Might continue following it.
  • Doughnuts Under A Crescent Moon - yuri manga about two office workers, pretty straightforward and tropey but I'm a sucker for that kinda thing.
  • You And I Are Polar Opposites - very cute romcom manga about a quiet boy and a popular girl. Ongoing in MangaPlus and I look forward to it every week.
  • Go For It, Nakamura - short comedic stories about a boy with a crush on another guy in his class who he's never talked to. not a lot to it but it's cute.
  • My Love Mix-up - romcom BL manga, a comedy of errors that leads to real romance. cute stuff.
  • The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady - I started watching this ongoing anime several weeks ago, cute fantasy yuri, technically an isekai but in a way I can generally ignore at this point.

plus most of the rest of the ongoing stuff from my last big media post: https://cohost.org/spenceregart/post/968691-my-big-manga-post
