I think I'm kinda bouncing off of dread delusion at the 15 hour mark because one of the zones is a thinly-veiled metaphor of how much life sucked in stalinist russia and I.... kinda just don't have the energy for that.
the conceit of the area is that at some point in the past the citizens banded together to create a perfect mechanical ruler instead of living at the whims of corrupt gods and men. which was all well and good until the clockwork king started going mad and making non-sensical laws (like barring all travel in and out), and now everyone is going hungry and it's been winter for several years.
which is honestly a fine metaphor, but my family suffered pretty heavily under stalin. the whole genocide thing. not exactly what I'm looking to relive in my video games.
(game is great otherwise though)
