I was gonna leave it there but: I am a one-person business in an industry where people expect me to be fricking Amazon. I do not ship Amazon times. I make this very clear up-front.
This processing time isn't for everyone. The majority of my customers know my processing times and are not in a rush. The ones who don't know contact me and I answer them and explain the processing times to them, at which point they are fine, because they now know what to expect, even if it's disappointing to them.
I am fortunate to have very understanding customers, but: I also don't ignore them.
Even when customers are unhappy, being open with communicating expectations and boundaries helps defuse the situation 99% of the time. I learned that from teaching.
But I am the one that does it. That's accountability.
I don't outsource other people to do it for me.
I don't sic other people on customers even if they're assholes.
I don't tell anybody what they can and can't feel about the inefficiencies and missing functions of my system.
I know that to do things right you need to sacrifice some features and conveniences you're used to or need. I also know that climbing onto a high horse and acting like nobody deserves transparency is not the way to go about things.
Certain* people need to seriously examine their habit of taking any form of critique as an up-to-11 attack. You are telling everyone to shut up for your own comfort. It should not surprise you that this is not taken as a nice thing (it isn't and you aren't being nice when you do it). What is y'all's goal with this, exactly? To silence criticism? Do you really think exaggerating responses and strawmanning arguments is going to do the trick?
If you don't want to be involved, don't be involved. But continuing to demonize people because of criticism that is ultimately extremely mild (it's been a YEAR) makes it seem like your agenda isn't just to stop people talking about the topic, it's to shut people up and drive them off the site, same as ever. Because what y'all are trying desperately not to say (but are saying with every post) is "if you don't like it, leave!"
*yes, for the most part, they are
