On a related note, at this moment in Onlineity (and if there's one thing about Cohost, it's that we are all a very high level of Online), if you (any non-Black person, like me) are not able to recognize and acknowledge anti-Black patterns of discourse which constantly repeat themselves whenever non-Black people see Black people expressing any concerns anywhere, you have protected yourself into a state of obliviousness that makes you singularly unqualified to jump in and ignore that loaded history.
This is not a moral judgment. It is just the way it is. You cannot refuse to learn about struggles that make you uncomfortable and expect that this refusal will be seen in any way as kind or harmless. There's a rather obvious and on-the-nose parallel that I don't want to bring up (because it will definitely not encourage introspection), but that I do see.
