To Spotify, you are not an artist, you are not a musician, you are not a beautiful and creative human who deserves to be respected as a peer and as one of the people integral to the very functioning and continued existence of Spotify. You are none of those things. You are a fucking annoyance. Really, they would much rather be rid of you entirely. If they could just steal all your music and charge people to listen to it and collect all the revenue for themselves, oh gosh golly gee they'd do it in a heartbeat (and one could argue with all their skeevy practices they basically already do).
But they do still have to interact with their artists to some extent. So this is how they choose to talk to them and treat them. Like insolent fucking children who stepped out of line. Fucking YouTube is better at this shit, at least they speak directly and respectfully to you like you're a goddamn adult who understands basic concepts. This is Spotify acting like they're sending you to detention because they think you might have tried to rip them off for two cents per dollar you make them instead of your - in their opinion - perfectly fair one cent per dollar, and telling you to write "I will not steal any of Spotify's precious revenue for myself" on the chalkboard several times.
And then they seriously, genuinely expect you to continue to want to do business with them after they're done treating you like you're a fucking eight year old.
